The Magical Iguazu Falls

Very remote, and thus requiring a long trip to reach them, lie the Iguazu Falls (in portuguese Cataratas do Iguaçu and in spanish Cataratas del Iguazú). The whole area is protected by the Iguazu National Park in Argentina and the Iguaçu National Park in Brazil. The parks are close to the three frontiers point, where Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil share a border, which is also quite nice to visit. The places to stay are Puerto Iguazú in Argentina, Foz do Iguaçu in Brazil or Ciudad del Este in Paraguay. 80% of the waterfalls are located on Argentinian territory, the rest being on Brazilian territory. Nevertheless, a visit of both sides is mandatory. The Argentinian side lets you get really close to the falls, whereas the Brazilian side offers spectacular panoramic views. I'm still undecided which side is the better one. The whole spectacle consists, depending on the water level of up to 275 falls of about 60-82 meters height, and is truly an amazing experience. Around every corner there is a new view, the sheer amount of water is astonishing, and all this enclosed by the beautiful tropical rainforest. Although the heat, sunshine and mosquitos can kill you after a certain point you will enjoy every second and minute (and it will be very difficult to let go of the view). The parks are both beautiful, although I thought that the Brazilian counterpart is better organized and much cleaner. The weird economy in the world resulted in increased prices throughout both parks. Although my travel guide is only two years old the prices are complete bollocks (sorry for the slang), you can easily double all prices and multiply it with the latin american factor (which is randomness), this counts for everything: accomondation, transport, entry fees, food and beer). Nevertheless, to experience the Iguazu Falls is something what everyone in his life should have witnessed at least once. There were countless Ahhh's and Ohhh's during my visit, truly a trip I will never forget.
