Beer is a passion of mine. For me, setting foot on a foreign continent, country, or city isn't just about soaking up the culture and seeing the sights — preferably at a jog, since I'm a keen runner — it's also about sampling the local food and, above all, the local beer. Call me predictable, but that's Yves on the road for you.
South America has been an absolute highlight of my travels over the years, and I count myself lucky to have wandered across so much of this beautiful continent. It's a place of staggering variety: 12 countries — Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay, and Venezuela — and home to more than 5% of the total world population (Worldometer).
From rainforests to pristine beaches to the spine of the Andes, the landscape here is remarkable, and it changes under your feet from one border to the next. And luckily I was also able to sample and taste a wide variety of beers along the way.
